Umayr Ibn Wahb R.A Sahaba

Umayr ibn Wahb al-Jumahi returned safely from the Battle of~Badr. His son, Wahb, was abandoned, a prisoner in the hands of the Muslims. Umayr dreaded that the Muslims would punish the youth severely because of the persecution he himself had meted out to the Prophet and the torture he had inflicted on his companions.
One morning Umayr went to the Sacred Mosque to produce tawaf circle the Ka'bah and worship his idols.
He found Safwan ibn Umayyah sitting near the Ka'bah, went upward to him and said:
"Im Sabahan (Good Morning), Quraysh chieftain."
"Im Sabahan, Ibn Wahb," replied Safwan. "Let ourselves confer for several time. Time merely goes via with conversation."
Umayr sat following to him. The pair men originated to remember Badr, the great defeat they had suffered and they depended the prisoners whoever had dropped into the hands of Muhammad and his companions. They became profoundly upset at the figure of great Quraysh men whoever had been murdered via the swords of the Muslims and whoever lay buried in the mass serious at alQalib in Badr.
Safwan ibn Umayyah shook his chief and sighed, "By God, there can be no superior afterwards them."
"You are right," certified Umayr. He waited silent for a whereas and thereafter said, "By the God of the Ka'bah, whether I had no debts and no family whose loss I dread afterwards me, I would go to Muhammad and kill him, ending off his mission and test his evil." He went on in a faint, subdued voice, "And as my son Wahb is among them, my headed to Yathrib would be beyond doubt."
Safwan ibn Umayyah listened intently to the words of Umayr and did not hope this frontier to pass. He turned to him and said:
"Umayr, position all your debt in my hands and I shall discharge it for you whatever the amount. As for your family, I shall take them as my possess family and give them whatever they need. I have enough riches to assure them a homely living."
"Agreed," said Umayr. "But retain this conversation of ours confidential and do not divulge any of it to anyone."
"That shall be so," said Safwan.
Umayr retired the Masjid al-Haram with the shoot of hatred against Muhammad glowing in his heart. He originated to depend what he lacked for the project he had set himself. He knew that he had the full advocate and confidence of the Quraysh whoever had membership of their households held prisoner in Madinah.
Umayr had his sword sharpened and coated with poison. His camel was laid and brought to him. He mounted the beast and rode in the instruction of Madinah with evil in his heart.
Umayr arrived Madinah and went immediately towards the mosque gazing for the Prophet. Near the door of the mosque, he alighted and tethered his camel.
At that time, Umar was sitting with several of the Sahabah near the door of the Mosque, reminiscing approximate Badr, the figure of prisoners that had been removed and the figure of Quraysh killed. They also remembered the acts of heroism shown via the Muslims, both the Muhajirun and the Ansar and gave thank you to God for the great victory He had given them.
At that very moment Umar turned circle and saw Umayr ibn Wahb alighting from his camel and headed towards the Mosque displaying his sword. Alarmed, he hopped upward and shouted. "This is the dog, the enemy of God, Umayr ibn Wahb. By God, he has merely reach do evil. He led the Mushrikeen against ourselves in Makkah and he was a spy for them against ourselves soon ago Badr. Go to the Messenger of God, stand circle him and warn him that this soiled traitor is afterwards him."
Umar himself hastened to the Prophet and said, "O Rasulullah, this enemy of God, Umayr ibn Wahb, has come displaying his sword and I think that he could merely be upward to something evil." "Let him come in," said the Prophet.
Umar approached Umayr, took keep of him via the tails of his robes, pressed the rear of his sword against his neck and took him to the Prophet.
When the Prophet saw Umayr in this condition he said to Umar:
"Release him." He thereafter turned to Umayr and said:
"Come closer."

Umayr came closer and said, "Anim Sabahan (the Arab reception in the days of Jahiliyyah)."
"God has given ourselves a reception superior than this, Umayr," said the Prophet. "God has given ourselves the reception of PeaceÑit is the reception of the citizens of Paradise."
"What have you come for?" lasted the Prophet.
"I came here hoping to have the prisoner in your hands discharged, so please oblige me."
"And what is this sword circle your neck for?" quizzed the Prophet.
"Tell me the truth. What have you come for, Umayr?" prodded the Prophet.
"I have merely reach have the prisoner released," insisted Umayr.
"No. You and Safwan ibn Umayyah sat near the Ka'bah remembering your companions whoever lie buried at al- Qalib and thereafter you said, 'If I had no debt or no family to appearance afterwards, I would constantly ebb to kill Muhammad.' Safwan took across your debt and pledged to appearance afterwards your family in return for your consenting to kill me. But God is a fence between you and your achieving your aim." Umayr stood stupefied for a moment, thereafter said:
"I suffer witness that you are the messenger of God."
"We accustomed, O messenger of God," he lasted, "to discard whatever good you had brought and whatever disclosure attended you. But my conversation with Safwan ibn Umayyah was not known to anyone else. By God, I am sure that merely God could have prepared this known to you. Praise be to God Who has led me to you that He may steer me to Islam." He thereafter testified that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah and became a Muslim. Thereupon, the Prophet commanded his companions:
"Instruct your brother in his religion. Teach him the Qur'an and set adrift his prisoner."
The Muslims were extremely joyous with Umayr's approval of Islam. Even Umar, whoever once said of him, "A pig is constantly dearer to me than Umayr ibn Wahb" came upward to the Prophet and exclaimed, "Today, he is dearer to me than several of my possess children."
Thereafter Umayr consumed much time boosting his experiences of Islam and filling his heart with the lamp of the Qur'an. There, in Madinah, he consumed the sweetest and richest days of his life away from what he had known in Makkah.
Back in Makkah, Safwan was brimming with hope and would say to the Quraysh, "I shall shortly give you several great news that would produce you forget the occasions of Badr."
Safwan waited for a lengthy time and thereafter slowly became more and more anxious. Greatly shook, he would ebb and ask passengers what news they had of Umayr ibn Wahb but nobody was able to give him a alright reply. Eventually a rider came and said, "Umayr has become a Muslim."
The news hammered Safwan like a thunderbolt. He was sure that Umayr would never become a Muslim and whether he ever did thereafter everybody on the face of the earth would become Muslim also. '4Never shall I pronounce to him and never shall I do whatever for him," he said.
Umayr meanwhile retained on endeavouring to gain a good comprehension of his religion and memorize whatever he could of the words of God. When he sensed he had achieved a sure grade of confidence, he went to the Prophet and said:
"O Rasulullah, much time has exceeded since I accustomed to attempt to placed out the lamp of God and severely tortured whoever was on the route of Islam. Now, I thirst that you must give me consent to go to Makkah and invite the Quraysh to God and His Messenger. If they acknowledge it from me, that shall be good. And whether they resist me, I shall harass them as I accustomed to harass the companions of the Prophet."
The Prophet gave his permission and Umayr retired for Makkah. He went straight to the dwelling of Safwan ibn Umayyah and said:
"Safwan, you are one of the chieftains of Makkah and one of the majority smart of the Quraysh. Do you actually think that these stones you are worshipping and earning sacrifice to, merit to be the basis of a religion? As for myself, I proclaim that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah."
At Umayr's hands, a lot Makkans became Muslims, but Safwan did not.
Later, during the liberation of Makkah, Safwan ibn Umayyah undertaken to flee from the Muslim forces. Umayr, however, received an amnesty from the Prophet for him and he too became a Muslim and discriminated himself in the service of Islam.
